Becoming a parent can often be one of life transitions that we look forward to the most. We have nine months to plan what the transition into parenthood will look like. However once it arrives we can be surprised by issues and feelings that may arrive with the little bundle.
Years down the road when children leave home it is not uncommon for couples to have to reestablish themselves as a couple. They may need to learn to set new boundaries with the young adults in their life or to make themselves a priority.
With people living longer and children staying in their parents’ home until a later time many adults are finding themselves caring for their parents while still having their own children at home. This can cause situations that a family might need assistance navigating.
Speaking with a therapist allows for a space to discuss the transitions to a neutral caring ear, and develop new boundaries. No one is expected to know how to handle the curves that life throws at us. Therapy can help an individual, couple or family explore what these transitions mean and how we are going to incorporate them into our lives.
