I am an ASU Master of Counseling student, and as an intern, what I lack in professional experience I make up for in personal/life experience. I hope that as we develop a therapeutic relationship together, you find that no subject is off-limits or taboo with me, and I aim to welcome uncomfortable conversations. I consider my perspective in therapy to be trauma-informed, with an existential lens. Life is hard and suffering is inevitable, so my time with you is spent exploring life’s complexities and figuring out what we can do about it.
My expanding specialties are trauma, and grief and loss. Many people think of grief and loss as only the death of someone close, but I consider it to include any and all losses (loss of sense of self, loss of identity, grieving a lost future, etc.). This is a universal human experience, and I believe whole-heartedly that grief is not a process to complete, but rather a journey to live alongside.
When you sit with me, I take a collaborative and integrative approach to our time together. No client is the same, and neither should be my approach, so within my existential lens, I draw from multiple modalities depending on which may work best for you throughout our time together, and remain flexible to changing them however best suits you. Additionally, I am not the expert on your lived experience, you are. My intention is to help you explore your story, find your own meaning or purpose, and gain valuable tools to help you help yourself.
I understand that it can be really difficult to open up to a stranger and share your deepest concerns, fears, traumas, etc. To help with that, I’ll share a little bit about me. In my free time, I love to go hiking, backpacking, paddle-boarding, camping, or basically anything outdoors. My husband and I love to off-road in our SUV and pop up a tent when we find a good camping spot. If I’m not outside, I’m likely drinking coffee and reading horror or fantasy books, cross-stitching, or finding a new crafty hobby to try. I also have two adorable fur babies (cats), and love filling my house with plants. I struggle with chronic pain, so I am a huge advocate for self-care and rest.
