The Hold Me Tight Workshop is an educational, interactive relationship workshop with content and exercises based on Dr. Sue Johnson’s book Hold Me Tight and her empirically proven couples therapy model, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Led by Shannon Barousse, this event provides valuable information about the types of interactions that lead to disconnection, conflict, and emotional injuries in relationships, as well as interactions and tools that create strong, intimate, and supportive connections between partners.
We will discuss scientific evidence that has taught us how to create secure attachments and lasting intimate relationships, then put those concepts into practice by applying them to your own relationship. In doing this, you will become more familiar with your own destructive conflict patterns and learn new ways of connecting more effectively with your partner. Our therapists will available to support you throughout the process as you exercise these new muscles and solidify a new way of interacting. Although it is recommended to combine or follow this workshop with couples therapy, this event can boost your progress and be equivalent to several months of therapy in one weekend. You will be spending several hours over a few days focusing intensely on understanding and transforming your relationship.
This workshop is not just for couples! We are social beings, designed for connection, and this material can be applied in many contexts. Hold Me Tight® is designed for all people interested in learning more about themselves, their relationships, and how to create the kind of connection and intimacy that we all want and need. If you are an individual, we recommend coming with a friend to process your insights and practice the exercises with. Our therapists will also be available to support you in your experience and making meaning of the material as it applies to your life. Hold Me Tight® is a registered trademark of Sue Johnson.
Hold Me Tight, and the Hold Me Tight Program were developed by Doctor Sue Johnson, applying 30 years of research and practice using EFT and EFT Therapy (Emotion Focused Therapy).
At the Arizona Relationship Institute, our therapists are trained in EFT and guided by Founder Doctor Lisa Gold. Our therapists are quite familiar with “Hold Me Tight” and the seven questions program that define relationships. If you are interested in even more than just our 2-day Hold Me Tight Workshops, EFT Therapy directly with one of our counselors may be ideal.
