The Living Garden: One Garden, Many Roots

Meet the Writer
Hi! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, a mom, a stepmom, and someone who’s spent most of my life living in the wonderfully complicated world of blended families. I grew up in a big blended family with eight siblings, and as an adult, I’ve experienced life with stepparents, too. Today, I also have the joy (and occasional chaos) of helping raise four amazing kids in my own blended family.
Some people collect hobbies—I seem to collect family roles.

Through The Living Garden: One Garden, Many Roots, I’ll be digging into the research behind blended families while keeping things practical, relatable, and grounded in real life. We’ll explore everything from stepparenting and co-parenting to communication, boundaries, loyalty binds, and why “just treat them like your own” may be one of the most well-intentioned—but least helpful—pieces of advice out there.
Blended families don’t need to look like anyone else’s to be healthy and thriving. Like any good garden, they grow at their own pace, with their own mix of roots, seasons, and surprises.
I’m so glad you’re here. I hope you’ll pull up a chair, stay awhile, and grow with me.
